Emerald Envy

One great way to add sophistication when wearing stripes is to pair it with the classic Midi. When it comes to horizontal stripes, black and white stripes are my preferred kinds, because I like to think the black slims down the widening effect of the pattern itself. Further downplay this by – you know it – creating a hourglass silhouette. Here I opted for a snug A-line emerald midi by Zara with a waistband that accentuates the waist, making it appear smaller. Not only so, the relatively stiff fabric of the skirt that helps make the look more formal and put-together. Additionally, you can create some texture in your look by playing with elements of embellishment – the zipper details on the side of this gorgeous skirt makes it more interesting, and also allows flexibility when setting the tone of the outfit. Close it completely for a formal occasion, or form a higher slit for a more relaxed setting. If your footwear choice covers the entirety of your foot like mine, balance it off by choosing one that has heels to give extra height and avoid looking chunky.
